The year was 1980. A few people gathered in the summer at Startz Cafe to begin conversations about a new United Methodist community of faith in the Canyon Lake area. By the next year, 1981, charter members of Canyon Lake UMC were breaking ground for their first meeting space. On Sunday, May 24, 1981, the congregation shared in a Consecration Sunday for a beautiful new ministry building!

Today, 40+ years later, Canyon Lake UMC is still reaching out with God's love and grace. Our ministries through the years have spanned the scope of worship and study, home building, preschool care and learning, generational fellowship and growth, working with local assistance agencies, and providing countless opportunities for people to come together in Christ's name.

Our collective focus as followers and servants of Christ will be:

• Intentional Prayer to provide spiritual power and a strong faith foundation
• Externally Focused Ministry, so as to become difference makers in our corner of the world
• Worship the Generates Worshipers as we speak to people's hearts and needs across the generations
• Radical Neighborhood Hospitality and Congregational Care - being a lovely reflection of Jesus Christ at home and in the world!
